BEinGrid: Business Experiments in Grid

BEinGRID is the European Union's largest integrated project funded by the Information Society Technologies (IST) research, part of the EU's sixth research Framework Programme (FP6).The BEinGRID consortium is composed of 95 partners who are running 25 Business Experiments (BEs) designed to implement and deploy Grid solutions in industrial key sectors.

Furthermore, BEinGRID maintains the Gridipedia repository which contains information on applying Grid technology to business. It represents a Grid meeting point, enabling individuals and organizations opportunities to offer, provide and use Grid technologies to meet their business challenges.

GRID ECON: Grid Economics and Business Models

GridEcon is a European Community funded project exploring the perceived economic barriers to the adoption Grid Computing by industry and SME' s across Europe.

Based on extensive business and economic modelling performed by GridEcon a "Test bed" is currently being developed bringing together user requests for computational power or e-services and provider offerings. At the core of the "Test bed" is the marketplace where supply and demand is balanced. Underpinning the marketplace are other key components created by GridEcon such as service providers, insurance and risk brokers, a monitoring service, a workflow broker and a capacity planner.
